The food at the Master Builders was good but not brilliant. The historic setting was fabulous though. We breakfasted very causally and it was clear from the outset that it was likely to rain for most of the day – albeit not heavily. We were in no rush.
The concerns over bad weather had been overstated and we enjoyed a fabulous weekend sailing. After a leisurely breakfast we slipped our moorings mid morning, headed up into Portsmouth Harbour for some steering practice and then out across to Bembridge under sail. Great day (again) sailing. Anchor practice lead us to lunch in the Beaulieu after sailing from Yarmouth.
Wind was too strong for man over board drills under sail but we could at least practice helming and picking up in conditions (25kts) too strong otherwise.
Finished at Port Hamble Marina where we berthed and found time for 3 pints of Guiness at the Bugle.
After a very sedate cruise up the Beaulieu River to Bucklers Hard we found some proper wind back on the Solent. Tacked all the way across to Yarmouth passing Roman Abramovich’s old superyacht ‘Grande Bleu’- which has a 75′ yacht and a motor yacht on top of the back of it – yes on it!
